Starspangledbanner Filly Beats The Boys At Haydock
There’s The Door (2f Starspangledbanner - Callisto Star, by Fastnet Rock) produced further improvement to get off the mark in Saturday’s seven furlong Novice Stakes at Haydock.
The David Evans-trained bay showed promise on both her previous starts, including over course and distance last time out, and took on the colts for the first time at the weekend. Held up at the back of the field by Phil Dennis, she was shaken up approaching the two furlong pole and was switched right to challenge approaching the final furlong. Running on well under pressure, she led close home to beat the favourite by a neck.
Bought by Kevin Ross as a yearling for €80,000, There’s The Door runs in the colours of Paul and Clare Rooney. The daughter of Starspangledbanner was bred by Kevin Molloy.
