Starspangledbanner filly delivers on debut promise
Savage Beauty (3f Starspangledbanner - Sister Sylvia, by Fantastic Light) followed up on a promising debut to win the Novice Stakes by 3½ lengths at Newcastle last night.
Trained by Richard Fahey for Ontoawinner, the bay finished a close third on her debut in October. Once again racing over seven furlongs, she was prominent throughout under Connor Murtagh and was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong. Running on well, she went clear for a comfortable success.
Bred by M Morrissey, Savage Beauty becomes the third winner out of the Fantastic Light mare Sister Sylvia, herself a half-sister to four blacktype performers including Gr.1 Sprint Cup winner Regal Parade.
Savage Beauty’s success continued a great week for Starspangledbanner, as his daughter Millisle, winner of the Gr.1 Cheveley Park Stakes, was crowned European Champion 2YO filly.
