Starspangledbanner Filly Fetches £160,000 At Premier Sale
A daughter of Starspangledbanner produced a dream result for Alice Fitzgerald when selling for £160,000 to MV Magnier on the final day of the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale.
The January-born chesnut is the first produce out of 10,000gns buy Under Offer and was bred by Fitzgerald with her partner Mike Doyle under their Summit Bloodstock banner. Speaking after the sale, a delighted Fitzgerald said, “This filly is a good first foal and it helps that Starspangledbanner is having an excellent season. The mare isn't that big so I think he has put a bit of strength into this filly.”
After signing the docket on behalf of Magnier, Kevin Buckley said, “She was a lovely filly, a very good first foal, and all the team loved her.”
Starspangledbanner started the sale as he would go on, with Lynn Lodge Stud’s homebred colt (Lot 23) selling to Peter and Ross Doyle for £90,000. Ross Doyle confirmed the bay would be trained by Richard Hannon, and added, “He's a typical Donny horse, the type we love to buy, and he's come from a great home. Starspangledbanner is also having a great season, probably his best ever.”
