Sigh No More (Starspangledbanner) Wins The Group 3 Eyrefield Stakes At Leopardstown

Starspangledbanner Filly Flies Home For Group 3 Win

Sigh No More (2f Starspangledbanner – Silent Thoughts, by Galileo) came from last to first to beat the boys in Saturday’s Group 3 Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown.

Held up by Mikey Sheehy, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly was pushed along as they turned for home and still had every rival to pass with two furlongs left to race. Running on well thereafter, she was ridden to lead inside the final 110 yards and went on to win by a length and a quarter. Stablemate Wemightakedlongway (Australia) took third.

Speaking after the race, Joseph O’Brien said, “I thought Sigh No More got a lovely ride from Mikey [Sheehy] and the race set up very well. She's as tough as nails, she's progressive and she's never run a bad race.”

Saturday marked a third career win for Sigh No More, who impressed when winning a Galway maiden and followed up next time out. Bred by Barronstown Stud, the Starspangledbanner filly is owned by Bronsan Racing and Stride Racing.
