Starspangledbanner Filly Gains Deserved Maiden Win
Siobhanbrogan (3f Starspangledbanner – Felissa, by Soldier Hollow) built on two promising runs to get off the mark in Monday’s Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Wolverhampton.
The Hugo Palmer-trained filly was beaten a length and a half on her sole juvenile start in a Newbury maiden and was narrowly denied on her return to action earlier this month. Sent off favourite to make it third time lucky, she raced prominently under Oisin Murphy and improved to lead inside the final furlong. She ran on well to win by two lengths, with another three and a quarter lengths back to the third.
Siobhanbrogan is owned by Middleham Park Racing and Paul Bamford, with the former having bought her at the breeze-up sales for 120,000gns. The daughter of Starspangledbanner was bred by Airlie Stud and Ted Folkerth.
