Starspangledbanner Filly Goes One Better At Goodwood
Heartfullofstars (2f Starspangledbanner - Kendamara, by Kendargent) built on a promising debut to take the Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Goodwood on Friday.
Runner-up to a well-bred filly on debut, the Richard Hannon-trained bay stepped up to a mile on her second start and raced prominently under Sam Hitchcott. Pushed along from two furlongs out, she showed signs of inexperience when challenged a furlong later, but kept on well to deny a previous winner by a neck.
Heartfullofstars was bought by Peter and Ross Doyle at the Goffs Orby Sale for €120,000 and holds an entry in the Goffs Million. Now owned by Merriebelle Irish Farm, the daughter of Starspangledbanner was bred and sold by Awbeg Stud.
