Starspangledbanner Filly Sparkles At Kempton

The Charlie Hills-trained Grey Sparkle (2f Starspangledbanner - Sparkling, by Dark Angel) showed a liking for Kempton’s all-weather surface when gaining her maiden win at the track on Wednesday afternoon.

Racing over six furlongs, the grey raced towards the back of the field under Kieran Shoemark and was pushed along from two furlongs out. Making good headway approaching the final furlong, she was ridden out to lead close home and beat the favourite Peerless by half a length on the line.

A €80,000 foal buy, Grey Sparkle is owned by John Grant, Mohammed Ali and Mrs BW Hills. The daughter of Starspangledbanner is the first foal bred by Fiona Doggett out of a full-sister to Listed winner Delizia.
