Starspangledbanner Filly Takes Maiden On Seasonal Return

Gemini Star (3f Starspangledbanner - Star Fire, by Dark Angel) justified favouritism on her three-year-old return in Tuesday’s five furlong maiden at Thirsk.

The Alice Haynes-trained filly showed promise on her sole juvenile start, when making most of the running to finish second at Haydock. Kieran O’Neill employed different tactics on Tuesday, holding the bay up in midfield and began to improve from halfway. Ridden to lead inside the final furlong, the G Budd-owned bay kept on well to win by a length and a quarter.

Gemini Star was bred by GCE Farm out of Star Fire, who has a two-year-old colt by Calyx.
