Starspangledbanner Filly Tops Trade At Arqana
Arthur Hoyeau is hoping to continue his success with the progeny of Starspangledbanner after securing one of his daughters for the sales-topping price of €115,000 at Part 2 of the Arqana August Sale.
“I've followed this filly all through her life and loved her from the start,” explained Hoyeau, after his father Eric provided the winning bid while taking instructions over the phone. “I love her sire, who I've had a great association with going back to Flotus, who won the Summer Stakes.
“This filly seems pretty precocious and is very athletic. She’s been bought for a partnership of several existing clients, while one of the co-breeders will keep a share. She’ll go into training in France.”
Hoyeau paid 125,000gns for Flotus (Starspangledbanner), who after winning a Listed race and finishing second in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, resold for 1,000,000gns. She went on to win a Group 3 sprint and place at Group 1 level on another two occasions.
His latest buy was offered by Fairyway Consignment, whose Charles Brière later commented, “I'm delighted with that price for the Starspangledbanner. Obviously, she is by the right sire.”
