Starspangledbanner Juvenile Rewarded With Maiden Win

King’s Crown (2g Starspangledbanner - Textured, by Dark Angel) gained a deserved win when leading home a 1-2 for Coolmore sires in Tuesday’s maiden at Thirsk.

The Adrian Nicholls-trained bay had been placed on all three of his previous starts, including when finishing second in a Class 2 contest at York, and stepped up to six furlongs on Tuesday. Making virtually all under Barry McHugh, he was ridden approaching the final furlong and kept on well to beat promising newcomer Indiana Be (Sioux Nation) by three parts of a length.

Owned by Dave Stone, King’s Crown was bred by Mountarmstrong Stud and hails from the family of Dominuendo.
