Talented Calyx Filly Fetches €1.8million At Arqana
Calyx’s Group 2 winner Classic Flower (3f Calyx – Crown Of Flowers, by Garswood) will race on in the US after selling for €1.8million at Arqana.
Alex Elliott purchased the Haras de Beamount-consigned filly on behalf of MV Magnier and Peter Brant’s White Birch Farm, who are sending the three-year-old to Chad Brown.
“She was the standout race filly for us, myself and the Coolmore team,” the agent explained. “Her vetting was very clean, her run style will suit the States. She was very obvious and hopefully she can go and win a Grade 1 now. She’s got all the ability in the world and she’s going to one of the best turf trainers in America, so she’s got all the ingredients.”
Representing the delighted consignors, Mathieu Alex said: “She’s a very attractive filly and we’re very happy and thankful that Coolmore have bought her. She’s a very special filly. We knew we were coming with a proper filly but you can never expect that kind of result.”
Classic Flower is one of two Group 2 winners sired by Calyx in his first crop, which also features Group 1 performers Purple Lily and Eben Shaddad.
