Gloucester (Ten Sovereigns) Gains His Second Win At Fairyhouse

Ten Sovereigns Colt Gains Second Win In Style

Gloucester (2c Ten Sovereigns - Anja, by Indian Ridge) doubled his tally when running out a commanding winner at Fairyhouse on Monday.

Donnacha O’Brien’s charge won a five furlong maiden last month but stepped up to six furlongs on Monday. Paddy Harnett rode the bay prominently throughout and was last off the bridle upon entering the straight. Asserting before the final furlong, he ran on well to beat the favourite by two lengths, with another three parts of a length back to Gold Coast Galleon (Magna Grecia) in third.

“He's been super to me,” the winning rider later said. “He's an absolute legend of a ride, very easy, and I got a lovely spin around on him there.”

Gloucester is a half-brother to Great House (Galileo), who won his maiden for Donnacha O’Brien and later won a pair of Group 3’s for Chris Waller. The Coolmore homebred continues a smart start at stud by Ten Sovereigns, who has sired a pair of Stakes winners to date, as well as another three Group performers.
