Ten Sovereigns Filly Makes A Perfect Start
Queen Of Zafeen (3f Ten Sovereigns – Grand Zafeen, by Zafeen) produced a smart debut performance to beat colts in Friday’s novice stakes at Southwell.
The Richard Hughes-trained newcomer faced some promising rivals in the seven furlong contest and was ridden in touch with the leaders by Finley Marsh. Shaken up approaching the final furlong, she led in the final 110 yards and kept on well to deny a late challenger on the line.
Queen Of Zafeen was bought by her trainer as a yearling for £110,000 and is now owned by Jaber Abdullah. The first crop daughter of Ten Sovereigns was bred by Fergus Cousins.
