The Gurkha Colt Delivers With Smart Maiden Success
Best Of Lips (2c The Gurkha - Beata, by Silver Frost) built on a promising debut performance to run out a comfortable winner of the two-year-old maiden at Dortmund on Sunday.
Third over seven furlongs at Munich on the first attempt, the Andreas Suborics-trained colt stepped up to a mile and one furlong on Sunday. The bay improved to score by three lengths and three quarters under Franny Norton, with another three lengths back to the favourite in third.
Owned by Stall Lintec and bred by Stall Parthenaue, Best Of Lips is the first foal out of Beata, herself a winning half-sister to French Oaks heroine Bright Sky. She hails from the first crop of top-class miler The Gurkha, whose son San Martino ran out an impressive five length winner of his maiden for Aidan O’Brien last month.
