The Gurkha Colt Gains Maiden Win For In Form Stable
A step up in trip saw Dejame Paso (2c The Gurkha - Bergamot Orange, by War Front) gain his maiden victory at Lingfield on Tuesday, continuing the fine form of the Andrew Balding stable.
The NM Watts-owned bay suffered a troubled passage last time out over seven furlongs and appeared to appreciate the mile trip on his latest start. David Probert rode him in a prominent position, joining the lead three furlongs from home and was pushed along a furlong later. Leading narrowly in the final 110 yards, the bay kept on to deny the favourite by half a length, with just a neck back to Taravara (The Gurkha) in third. The first three home finished over eight lengths clear of the rest of the field.
Bred by Mountain View Stud and JC Bloodstock, Dejame Paso becomes the first winner out of the mare Bergamot Orange, herself a half-sister to Group 2 winner Bragging.
