The Gurkha Colt Races Clear To Group 3 Success

The progressive Best Of Lips (2c The Gurkha - Beata, by Silver Frost) drew clear to win Sunday’s Group 3 Preis des Winterfavoriten at Cologne.

Third on debut in August, the Andreas Suborics-trained bay ran out an impressive winner of his maiden over nine furlongs last month. Dropping back to a mile on Sunday, he raced towards the back of the field under Franny Norton and began to quicken turning for home. Running on strongly down the centre of the track, he scored by three and a half lengths, while the runner-up finished another four lengths clear of the third.

Owned by Stall Lintec and bred by Stall Parthenaue, Best Of Lips is the first foal out of Beata, herself a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Bright Sky. She hails from the first crop of top-class three-year-old The Gurkha, who himself hails from the family of Arc winner Solemia.
