The Gurkha Filly Races Clear At Deauville
A step up in trip saw La Bure (2f The Gurkha - Way Of Light, by Dylan Thomas) get off the mark on the second attempt at Deauville on Thursday.
Fourth over six furlongs on debut last month, the Jean-Claude Rouget trained filly stepped up to seven and a half furlongs in Thursday’s Prix du Mezeray. She made all under Coralie Pacaut, quickening on the turn for home and ran on well in the straight to win by a length and three quarters, with ease.
Bred by Edgeridge Ltd, La Bure is owned by Frank McNulty in partnership with SARL Ecurie J.L. Tepper. She becomes the latest winner from the first crop of top-class miler The Gurkha, who is also responsible for Aidan O’Brien’s maiden winner Finest and recent debut scorer Sugauli.
