The Gurkha Ex Red Blossom

Two Six Figure Sales For The Gurkha

A first crop son of The Gurkha returned a significant profit at the Goffs Orby Sale when selling for €300,000 to China Horse Club. The half-brother to Listed winner Thanksfortellingme had been bought as a foal by Mags O’Toole for €65,000 and was offered by Lynn Lodge Stud on Wednesday.

Adding to Lynn Lodge Stud’s successful sale was their earlier offering of a Footstepsinthesand colt, who they sold to Blandford Bloodstock for €280,000. Picked up as a foal for €58,000, the bay is a half-brother to Listed winner Paint Island (Zoffany).

The Gurkha began the day on a high as his son offered by the Castlebridge Consignment brought a winning bid of €260,000 from MV Magnier. The bay colt is the third foal out of dual Stakes scorer Euphrasia, whose two-year-old Bright Eyed Eagle (Gleneagles) finished a promising second on debut last week.

Among MV Magnier’s other purchases on the day were a No Nay Never filly for €250,000, a son of the same sire for €220,000, a Gleneagles colt for €170,000 and a Zoffany filly for €150,000.
