U S Navy Flag Filly Not For Catching

Ibiza Love (2f U S Navy Flag - Ibiza Dream, by Night Shift) built on last month’s promising debut to win the fillies’ maiden at Doncaster on Saturday afternoon.

The Hugo Palmer-trained filly overcame a slow start at the track to finish third over five furlongs and stepped up to six and a half furlongs on her second start. She broke smartly to make all under Ben Curtis and was pushed along from two furlongs out. Ridden approaching the final furlong, she kept on well to win by a length and a half, with another half a length back to promising newcomer American Belle (Starspangledbanner) in third.

Owned by Roudee Racing, Ibiza Love was bred by the Dreaming Partnership and holds entries in some valuable sales races. The half-sister to Group performer Pleasant Surprise (Mastercraftsman) continues a bright start made by the first crop of champion two-year-old U S Navy Flag.
