Unbeaten No Nay Never Filly Dominates In Albany Stakes
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Meditate (2f No Nay Never - Pembina, by Dalakhani) extended her unbeaten record with a superb front-running performance in Friday’s Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot.
The daughter of No Nay Never emerged as an exciting prospect at the Curragh in April and followed up the Group 3 Coolmore Stud Irish EBF Fillies Sprint last month. Racing keenly down the centre of the track, she was asked to quicken two furlongs from home and was ridden approaching the final furlong. Keeping on strongly, she ran out a commanding winner under Ryan Moore, as the favourite finished a length and three quarters back in second.
O’Brien later praised the winner’s attitude, saying, “She's got a great mind and looks to have all the right things. She's mature, she's big – she just looks a very smart filly.”
Westerberg’s Georg von Opel, who owns Meditate with Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Mrs John Magnier, said, “It's wonderful. She was very dominant. She's a very good filly and maybe she can go further, while she's so uncomplicated. The 1,000 Guineas would be a dream.”
Bred by Lynch-Bages and Rhinestone Bloodstock, the €360,000 yearling purchase provided No Nay Never with his second Royal Ascot winner of the week, with Little Big Bear (No Nay Never) having captured the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes on Wednesday.
