Well Bred Fastnet Rock Fillies Gain Maiden Wins In Style
Twisted Reality (2f Fastnet Rock - Lady Dragon, by Galileo) marked herself as one to watch when overcoming a slow start to make a winning debut at Nottingham.
One of nine to line up for the fillies’ maiden over a mile, the Ralph Beckett-trained bay showed signs of inexperience at the back of the field, but showed a willing attitude to make headway approaching the final furlong. Asserting in the final 110 yards, she ran on to score by a length and a quarter under Cieren Fallon from the even-money favourite Dancing To Win.
Owned by Qatar Racing, the daughter of Fastnet Rock becomes the second winner out of Stakes performer Lady Dragon (Galileo) and is bred on the same cross as top-class race mares Zhukova and Qualify.
Ann Marie O’Brien’s homebred filly Menagerie (3f Fastnet Rock - Cocoon, by Galileo) is also bred on the successful Fastnet Rock/Galileo cross and gained a deserved maiden victory at the Curragh on Friday.
Previously placed on four occasions, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly was sent off favourite as she dropped down to nine furlongs under Mikey Sheehy. Racing prominently, she was pushed along from two furlongs out and led inside the final furlong, running on well to win by three and a quarter lengths.
