Well Bred Fastnet Rock Filly Gains Maiden Win

Lady Anner (3f Fastnet Rock - Lady Bones, by Royal Applause) dug deep to justify favoritism in Monday’s fillies’ maiden at Roscommon.

Narrowly beaten on her previous two starts, she was reunited with Shane Foley to track the leader for much of the seven furlong contest. Pressing the leader from three furlongs out, she was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong and dug deep to hold off a strong challenge by Ediyva, prevailing by a head on the line.

Trained by Jessica Harrington for owner/breeder Newtown Anner Stud Farm, Lady Anner is a full-sister to Group 1 winner Laganore (Fastnet Rock). The daughters of Fastnet Rock are out of a half-sister to dual Group 1 scorer Blazing Speed (Dylan Thomas).
