Well Bred Mastercraftsman Filly Wins On First Attempt
The well-bred Cabaletta (2f Mastercraftsman - Allegretto, by Galileo) emerged as an exciting prospect for next season when making a winning debut at Yarmouth on Tuesday.
Trained by Roger Varian, the Cheveley Park Stud homebred is out of French Leger heroine Allegretto. She faced eight rivals in the mile contest, with David Egan pushing her into a prominent position, shaking her up to lead approaching the final furlong, with the grey staying on well to win by a length.
She becomes the fourth winner out of Allegretto, herself out of Doncaster Cup winner Alleluia. Mastercraftsman has enjoyed enormous success with daughters and grand-daughters of Sadler’s Wells, with the cross producing the likes of The Grey Gatsby, Even Song and Technician.
