Well Bred Sottsass Yearlings Take Centre Stage At Goffs
A selection of beautifully-bred yearlings from the first crop of World Champion Three-Year-Old Sottsass will be offered at the Goffs Orby Sale.
Of the eleven yearlings catalogued, seven are siblings of Stakes horses, while another two are out of Group 1 performers. Tally-Ho Stud are expected to offer one of the highlights of the sale in the shape of Lot 109, who they pinhooked in February for €115,000. The Sottsass colt is out of a full-sister to Group 1 performer Collins Street (Camelot).
Another pinhooker hoping for a profitable result is Pat McCarthy, who went to €75,000 for a first crop daughter of Sottsass in November. The half-sister to Group 3 German Derby Trial victor Sea Of Sands will be re-offered as Lot 63. The very next lot into the ring is another daughter of Sottsass and has the added prestige of being out of dual Stakes winner and Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary second Sanaya. She is consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment, as is Lot 521, a half-brother to Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 placed Speak Of The Devil (Wootton Bassett).
Continuing the theme is Lot 91 from Glenvale Stud, a half-brother to Group 1 runner-up Opposite and to Listed winner Baahama, herself the dam of two Group winners. Glenvale Stud’s other Sottsass filly, Lot 404, is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Helene Paragon.
Lot 418 from Kildaragh Stud boasts a similarly impressive page, as a three-parts sister to Group 3 winner and Group 1 performer Spectre. Camas Park Stud’s Sottsass filly (Lot 220) gives her a run for her money, with her four black-type siblings led by multiple Group winner Libranno. Stauffenberg Bloodstock is another leading consignor to offer the first crop of Sottsass and their filly (Lot 541) hails from the top-class family of Noroit.
Alice Fitzgerald’s well-related Sottsass colt (Lot 365) has benefitted from a timely update, with half-sister Magical Sunset adding a Group 3 success to her previous Listed win. Deer Forest Stud’s Sottsass filly is out of Group 1 heroine Aoife Alainn, whose relation Commanche Falls recorded her fourth Stakes win since the catalogue was printed.
