Well Bred Zoffany Filly Wins Maiden Impressively

Friday saw the Mickael Delzangles-trained Shalamba (3f Zoffany - Shalanaya, by Lomitas) run out an impressive winner of the Prix Chateau Font-Merlet at La Teste De Buch.

Third on debut last season, the Aga Khan Studs homebred was sent off favourite under Ioritz Mendizabal, who settled her to chase the leader for much of the way. The front pair were clear of the field entering the straight and Shalamba required minimal encouragement to assert after the two furlong marker. Racing clear under hands and heels, she won by six and a half lengths.

Shalamba is out of Shalanaya, who won the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera for the same connections.
