Well Related Yearlings Represent Arizona At Tattersalls Ireland

A son of Coventry Stakes winner Arizona kicks off proceedings at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale, where the first season sire is represented by six yearlings.

Alice Fitzgerald consigns the very first lot into the ring, a colt out of the 83-rated three-time winner Abby Cadabby. The April-born bay shares his page with dual Group winner and 2,000 Guineas third Supreme Leader.

Arizona’s next representative is Lot 21 from Glenvale Stud, whose three-year-old brother Natchitoches (Sioux Nation) finished a promising third in a Chantilly maiden earlier this month. The bay colt is a grandson of multiple Stakes winner Alamanni and hails from the family of Group 1 filly Maiden Tower.

Boher Stud offer the next son of Arizona as Lot 134, who hails from the top-class family of Echelon, Exclusive, Entrepreneur and Integral. The Flannery family’s Egmont Stud offer another well-related Arizona colt (Lot 374), who shares his page with Gun Runner and Saint Liam.

Killourney Mor Farm's offering also demonstrates the well-bred mares in Arizona’s debut book, with their colt (Lot 195) being out of a half-sister to Group 1 Metropolitan winner Magic Hurricane.

Castletown Stud offer Arizona’s sole filly in the sale (Lot 190), whose dam boasts four winners from four runners. The grand-dam produced a multiple Stakes winner and comes from the family of Charismatic.

Arizona himself sold for €260,000 as a yearling and soon repaid the faith with an impressive eight length victory in a Curragh maiden, before justifying favouritism in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes. He later found only Pinatubo too good in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes, a performance which earned him a Timeform rating of 119; only bettered by his aforementioned rival and Kameko.
