Wootton Bassett Colt Ex Poets Vanity sells for 425,000gns

Wootton Bassett Colt Brings 425,000gns From Juddmonte

A Wootton Bassett colt proved one of the highlights of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale when knocked down to Juddmonte Farms for 425,000gns.

Explaining Juddmonte’s most expensive purchase of the week Simon Mockridge said, “We bought the half-sister here last year and we think she’s one of our nicest at home. This is a nice horse, a bit later as a May foal, but very well balanced, compact and a great walker. Wootton Bassett has had a very good year and this made a lot of sense to us.”

Langton Stud consigned the May-born bay, who was bred by M.E. Wates out of Group 3 winner Poet’s Vanity. Group 2 winner Persian Dreamer and Group 1 performer Tiger Moth (Galileo) feature under the second dam.

Later in the session, Sumbe went to 300,000gns for a Wootton Bassett colt from Plantatian Stud. It marked a perfect start for the mare Roses Are Red (Galileo), who sold carrying the colt to Plantatian Stud and Mags O’Toole for 255,000gns.

Riversfield Stud were another to enjoy a successful sale, as their Wootton Bassett filly brought 250,000gns from Sackville Donald. The May foal is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Waikuku and this season’s progressive Group 3 scorer Waipiro (Australia).
