Wootton Bassett Colt Creates Fine Impression At The Curragh
Ides Of March (2c Wootton Bassett – Nickname, by Scat Daddy) is set for a step up in class after running out a stylish winner of Saturday’s six furlong maiden at the Curragh.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained colt was sent off the even-money favourite following third and fourth placings at the track, with Ryan Moore retaining the partnership on the bay’s third start. He broke smartly and made all, drawing clear from the two furlong pole and went on to beat stablemate Monumental by three lengths.
“Ides Of March could be a group sprinter,” said O’Brien. “He's big, powerful and he's fast. He could go for the Middle Park and maybe have a run before that.”
Bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, the son of Wootton Bassett is owned by Coolmore partners with Brookdale Racing.
