Wootton Bassett Colt Doubles Up In Style
Naamoos (3c Wootton Bassett - Praise Dancing, by Blame) made it two from two this season when running out a clear winner of Friday’s Esher Cup at Sandown.
The Mark Johnston-trained colt broke his maiden by all of 17 lengths last season and made all under top weight in a Class 2 contest earlier this month. Friday was a similar affair- the bay making all under top weight and was pushed along from two furlongs out. Ridden entering the final furlong, he was pushed out to win the Class 2 by six lengths.
A step up in class may now be on the cards for Naamoos, who is owned by HH Shaikh Nasser Al Khalifa and partner. The son of Wootton Bassett was bred by Haras De Bourgeauville, who sold him to Oliver St Lawrence as a yearling for €115,000.
