Wootton Bassett Colt Extends Unbeaten Record At Chantilly
Niarchos family homebred Ninth Titan (3c Wootton Bassett - Yoga, by Monsun) justified Group 1 entries by making it two from two at Chantilly on Wednesday.
A four-length winner on debut last month, the Philippe Sogorb-trained colt faced another three previous winners in the Class 2 contest over ten and a half furlongs. Ridden to chase the leaders by Stephane Pasquier, the bay was asked to quicken approaching the turn for home and was pushed out in the straight to beat the favourite Gold by half a length. The front pair drew eight and a half lengths clear of their rivals.
A step up in class is presumably on the cards for Ninth Titan, who holds entries in the Prix du Jockey Club and Grand Prix de Paris. The son of Wootton Bassett is out of a half-sister to the top-class Saddex and comes from the family of Denon, Chimes Of Freedom, Spinning World and War Of Will.
