Wootton Bassett Colt Leads Them Home On Debut
Swindon (2c Wootton Bassett - Light It Up, by Elusive City) was never headed when making a winning debut in Thursday’s seven furlong maiden at Wolverhampton.
The William Haggas-trained newcomer was well-supported ahead of the juvenile contest and was ridden to make all by Cieren Fallon. Pushed along from two furlongs out, he ran on strongly when ridden a furlong later and kept on well to score by three parts of a length, as the leading trio finished clear of the remainder.
Swindon is owned by MM Stables, who recently sold their progressive three-year-old Unlimited (Saxon Warrior) to Chris Waller Racing for 230,000gns. Their latest winner was bred by John Kilpatrick and Johayro Investments Ltd.
