Wootton Bassett Colt Powers Home In Deauville Maiden
The Andre Fabre-trained Burstow (3c Wootton Bassett - The Hunt Is On, by Manhattan Rain) showed a smart turn of foot to win Friday’s maiden at Deauville.
The Mrs Fitri Hay-owned colt dropped down to six and a half furlongs for the first time on Friday and was ridden to chase the leaders by Maxime Guyon. The leader boasted a clear advantage as they turned for home and Burstow ran on strongly when asked to lead a furlong out. Keeping on well, he won by two lengths as his rivals did their best to chase him down, with the first three finishing five and a half lengths clear of the field.
A full-brother to Stakes performer Midlife Crisis (Wootton Bassett), Burstow was bred by Haras D’Etreham, Meridian International, Benoit Chalmel and Cofinvest.
