Wootton Bassett Colt Wins Maiden In Good Style
Rascal Recknell (3c Wootton Bassett – Olma, by Dynasty) built on two promising performances to win Friday’s seven furlong maiden at Lingfield.
The Wootton Bassett colt sold for 215,000gns following his debut third, which saw him beat subsequent Group performer Skellet. The bay was narrowly denied on his first start for Kevin Philippart de Foy and was sent off favourite to go one better on his third start. Racing prominently under Benoit de la Sayette, he was ridden approaching the final furlong and kept on well to win by two lengths and three quarters. The consistent Influence (No Nay Never) claimed runners-up honours.
Rascal Recknell is owned by the Westminster Racing Syndicate and was bred by Zalim Bifox. The progressive three-year-old is a full-brother to smart maiden winner Elm (Wootton Bassett).
