Wootton Bassett Filly Adds Group Win To Unbeaten Record
Angeal (2f Wootton Bassett – Curvy, by Galileo) extended her unbeaten record to three from three when taking Sunday’s Group 3 Prix Six Perfections at Deauville.
A debut winner at Saint-Cloud in July, the Christopher Head-trained filly made a successful step up to seven furlongs in a Class 2 at the track last month and was sent off favourite to complete the hat-trick at Deauville. Chasing the leader under Aurelien Lemaitre, she was pushed along approaching the two furlong pole and was ridden to lead soon after. She displayed a game attitude when challenged, digging deep to deny the 91-rated British raider Royalty Bay by a short neck.
Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “I'm delighted she remains undefeated with a great performance. She has a lovely temperament and she never gives up when she has to fight. now take our time to prepare her for the one-mile Group 3 Prix d'Aumale and then the Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac.”
Bred by Coolmore Stud and sold at Goffs Orby Book 1 to Chantilly Bloodstock for €110,000, Angeal is owned by C Brun, Ecurie Normandy Spirit and Gerard Larrieu. The daughter of Wootton Bassett becomes the first Group/Graded winner out of the Galileo mare Curvy.
