Wootton Bassett Filly Battles Back For Maiden Win

Purple Love (3f Wootton Bassett - Ajou, by Siyouni) produced a game performance to get off the mark in Saturday’s seven furlong Novice Stakes at Doncaster.

Richard Hannon’s charge finished a promising second on her three-year-old return earlier this month and was well-supported to go one better under Hollie Doyle. Racing prominently throughout, she was shaken up to lead after the two furlong pole, but was soon headed by the favourite. Keeping on well under pressure, she regained the advantage close home, with the front pair finishing two lengths clear of the third.

Bought by Peter and Ross Doyle as a yearling for €175,000, Purple Love continues Amo Racing’s success with Wootton Bassett. Amo Racing recently celebrated a Group 1 win with Bucanero Fuerte (Wootton Bassett), while their Group 2 victor King Of Steel (Wootton Bassett) went close in the Epsom Derby.
