Wootton Bassett Filly Makes Bright Start At Deauville
The Andre Fabre-trained Quickstep (2f Wootton Bassett - Dance Toupie, by Dansili) justified strong market support to make a winning debut at Deauville on Friday.
The 350,000gns yearling buy was sent off a short-priced favourite for the fillies’ maiden over seven and a half furlongs, and broke well to track the leaders under Mickael Barzalona. Shaken up approaching the final furlong, she quickened to lead soon after and ran on strongly under hands and heels to win by a length and a quarter.
Owned by Godolphin and bred by Mathieu Daguzan-Garros, Quickstep is a full-sister to Group performer Dave (Wootton Bassett).
