Wootton Bassett Filly Makes Smart Debut At Saint Cloud

Pricey breeze-up purchase A New Opportunity (3f Wootton Bassett - Polissone, by Tagula) shaped like a smart prospect when making a winning debut at Saint-Cloud on Wednesday.

18 lined up for the Prix Praline over a mile, with Maxime Guyon settling the eventual winner towards the rear. Pushed along from two furlongs out, the bay produced a good turn of foot entering the final furlong and was pushed out to win by a length and a quarter.

Trained by Henri Devin for Peter Katelanis, Haras d’Etreham and Alain Jathiere, the daughter of Wootton Bassett becomes the first winner out of Polissone. Bred by Haras d’Etreham and P Joncoux, she was sold by Kilminfoyle House Stud at the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale for £150,000 to Haras d’Etreham and Blandford Bloodstock.
