Wootton Bassett Juvenile Captures Listed Feature

Balsam (2f Wootton Bassett - Bea Remembered, by Doyen) confirmed herself a talented juvenile when leading home a 1-2 for Coolmore sires in the Listed Prix des Reves d’Or at Vichy.

Runner-up on both of her previous starts, the Henri Devin-trained bay faced some smart winners in the five furlong Stakes race and was ridden prominently by Clement Lecoeuvre. Pushed along from two furlongs out, she was ridden to lead inside the final furlong and ran on well to score by three parts of a length. Impressive debut winner Les Pavots (No Nay Never) claimed runners-up honours.

Balsam is owned and bred by Al Shaqab Racing, who are no strangers to success with Wootton Bassett, having owned Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye victor Wooded (Wootton Bassett).
