Wootton Bassett Juvenile Delivers On Debut
Benevento (2c Wootton Bassett – Pollyana, by Whipper) made a bright start to his career when winning Saturday’s five furlong maiden at Yarmouth.
Billy Loughnane rode the Dominic Ffrench Davis-trained newcomer to make all, with the bay showing signs of inexperience when asked to quicken from two furlongs out. Challenged a furlong from home, he ran on well under pressure to win by a length and a quarter, as the favourite was forced to settle for second.
Bred by J Wall and E Kennedy, Benevento is owned by AMO Racing and Giselle De Aguiar.
