Wootton Bassett Kicks Off Arqana With €550,000 Filly
Wootton Bassett enjoyed a terrific start to the Arqana August Yearling Sale when just the fifth lot in the ring sold for €550,000.
MV Magnier secured Haras de Castillon’s half-sister to Group 2 runner-up Penja (Camelot), who sold for €1.2million last year.
Speaking after the sale, Benoit Jeffroy of Castillon said, “We’re very pleased and she’s a lovely filly. She’s been popular all week and she’s from a family we’ve had for a long time. We hope she’s very good for her future connections and hopefully we’ll see her on the racetrack at a high level.”
The pricey filly hails from Wootton Bassett’s final French crop before moving to Coolmore Stud. She was one of nine six-figure lots by the sire on the opening day of trade, with highlights including Ocean Bloodstock’s €605,000 spend on two of his progeny.
