Wootton Bassett Yearlings Post Impressive Returns At Book 1
Wootton Bassett’s final French crop proved hot property at the Tatts Book 1 Yearling Sale, where eight yearlings produced an average price of 348,125gns and a 100% clearance rate.
Demand reached a crescendo on the final day of trade, when the hammer fell at 500,000gns for WH Bloodstock’s Wootton Bassett filly out of Chrysocolla. Justin Casse signed on behalf of MV Magnier for the bay, who rewarded a brave pinhook by WH Bloodstock at 250,000gns.
WH Bloodstock also sold a Wootton Bassett colt to Manor House Farm for 280,000gns earlier in the sale.
MV Magnier secured his first Wootton Bassett of the sale on Wednesday, when joining with White Birch Farm to buy Pier House Stud’s colt for 480,000gns.
Joseph O’Brien trained Al Riffa (Wootton Bassett) to win this year’s Group 1 Vincent O’Brien National Stakes and will be hoping for continued success with the sire, after buying Haras de Castillon’s Wootton Bassett colt for 485,000gns.
Lofts Hall Stud’s Wootton Bassett colt out of Gloryette is bound for New Zealand, after selling to Jeremy Brummitt and John Wheeler for 400,000gns.
