Zoffany Colt Completes Back-To-Back Wins
Powertrain (2c Zoffany - Emerald Ring, by Johannesburg) followed up on last month’s maiden success when justifying favoritism at Chester on Friday afternoon.
Ben Curtis donned the silks of owner Isa Salman and rode the chesnut to track the leaders for much of the seven furlong contest. Pushing the colt along from over a furlong out, he was forced to wait for a gap inside the final furlong and ran on to lead close home, asserting by a neck on the line.
Powertrain was bred by Coolmore and was sold as a two-year-old by Mocklershill at Tattersalls, where he made 145,000gns. A half-brother to Listed winner and Group 3 performer Ballet Shoes (Galileo), he is out of Emerald Ring, who won her maiden by seven lengths and finished second at Group 3 level.
