Zoffany Colt Gains Back To Back Wins In Impressive Fashion

The Richard Fahey-trained Pythagoras (2c Zoffany - Alegra, by Galileo) could not have been more impressive when racing clear to win at Ripon on Tuesday.

The Sir Robert Ogden homebred finished a close second on debut in July and followed up with a straightforward success last month. Sent off favourite for his next start over a mile, the bay was held up by Silvestre De Sousa and began to make headway from halfway. Tracking the leaders three furlongs from home, he was forced to switch left to challenge approaching the final furlong and went clear to win by eight and a half lengths.

De Sousa believes there is more to come from the winner, commenting, “I don't think the penny has dropped with him yet, he still has improvement in him.”

Pythagoras is closely related to Listed winner Blue Gardenia (Mastercraftsman) and adds to an impressive list of recent smart winners by his sire Zoffany.
