Zoffany Colt Goes One Better With Maiden Success
A step up in trip saw Choice Of Raison (2c Zoffany - Miss Plimsoll, by Arch) go one better than his promising debut and win the Prix Des Tournesols at Marseille on Wednesday.
Narrowly beaten over six furlongs at the same track in May, the Frederic Rossi-trained colt stepped up to a mile on his latest start. Franck Blondel quickly sent to bay forward, chasing the leaders until the turn for home, where he asked his mount to quicken and improved to lead two furlongs out. Running on well, he scored by two and a half lengths.
Choice Of Raison was bred by Ecurie Des Monceaux, who own the colt in partnership with Alexandre Giannotti and Sibille Rossi. He becomes the third winner out of the dam, a full-sister to dual Group winner Pomology, who also finished second in the Group 2 Prix Vermeille.
