Zoffany Colt Runs Out Impressive Winner Of Listed Contest

A return to his preferred ground saw Pensiero D’Amore (3c Zoffany - Ira Brevis Furor, by King’s Best) run out an impressive winner of Sunday’s Listed Premio d’Estate Memorial Arturo Brambilla at Milan.

The Scuderia Effevi homebred finished a close second in a similar contest on heavy ground last time out and relished the good ground on his latest start. Racing over a mile, he was asked to challenge two furlongs out and ran on strongly to score by four lengths under Dario Vargiu. The winning jockey was confident of success, later saying, “He was by far the best horse in the race and he won as expected.”

Completing a double for his owner and Alduino Botti, Pensiero D’Amore delivered on his promise as a juvenile, when he was Listed-placed on two occassions, while he finished third in a Group 3 on his seasonal return in April.

The son of Zoffany is out of a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Matchwinner and comes from the Niarchos family of Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Saffron Walden (Sadler’s Wells) and Prix de la Foret victor Dolphin Street.
