Zoffany Colt Stamps Class At Leopardstown

Sword Zorro (2c Zoffany - Sarawati, by Haafhd) confirmed previous promise when running out an impressive winner of Saturday’s seven furlong maiden at Leopardstown.

Third behind two subsequent Group performers on debut, the Jessica Harrington-trained colt went on to finish second on his next three starts, including once behind Wembley (Galileo), who subsequently finished second in two Group 1 contest.

Reunited with Shane Foley on return, the bay raced prominently throughout and was pushed along from two furlongs out. Leading approaching the final furlong, he was ridden out to score by four lengths.

Assistant trainer Kate Harrington later commented, “It's great to get that win as he's had some very good runs, including behind Wembley who has obviously done good things since. He's a nice horse and he likes that ground. He'll be a nice one to look forward to for the beginning of next season.”

Bred by Pigeon Park Stud, Sword Zorro was purchased by BBA Ireland as a yearling for €165,000 and now races for Zhang Yuesheng. The son of Zoffany is a full-brother to Group 1 winner Ventura Storm.
