Zoffany Colt Strides Clear On Second Start
A drop in trip and switch to turf saw Great Deal (3c Zoffany – Diavla, by Bahri) gain his maiden win in impressing fashion at Angers on Thursday.
The Botti-trained colt made his second start in the Prix de la Solidarite over a mile, in which he was ridden close to the pace by Ioritz Mendizabal. Producing a challenge with two furlongs left to race, he ran on strongly to win by three lengths.
Owned and bred by Scuderia La Tesa, Great Deal is closely related to Italia Oaks third Whippy Cream and is a half-brother to Listed winner and producer Souviens Toi. The Zoffany colt’s impressive success bodes well for his two-year-old half-sister Diletta, a daughter of Australia.
