Zoffany Filly Catches The Eye On Debut
Fantail (2f Zoffany - Red Fantasy, by High Chaparral) made a fine impression on debut when beating some well-bred rivals in Tuesday’s Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Chelmsford.
The market was headed by Rideson, a close second on debut last month, while the field also included a €400,000 purchase and a close relation to Leger third Michelangelo (Galileo). Joe Fanning rode the eventual winner to make all and asked her to quicken approaching the final furlong, the bay running on to win by two and a half lengths.
Trained by Simon Crisford for Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, Fantail was bought as a yearling by John and Jake Warren for 75,000gns. A half-sister to two winners, the daughter of Zoffany was bred by the Honourable Ronald Arculli out of the Listed-placed mare Red Fantasy.
