Zoffany Filly Continues Family History Of Success
The Joseph O’Brien-trained A New Dawn (2f Zoffany - Simply A Star, by Giant’s Causeway) showed a game attitude when rallying to justify favoritism in the six furlong maiden at Naas on Wednesday.
The Coolmore homebred was dropping back in trip, having finished second over seven furlongs earlier in the month. Donnacha O’Brien rode the chestnut to chase the leaders, improving to dispute the lead with a furlong and a half left to race and was ridden to assert close home. The winning distance was a head, with another two and a quarter lengths back to stablemate Unforgetable in third.
Donnacha O’Brien commented after the race, “ A New Dawn had a good run last day and the step back in trip was a good idea. She's tough and genuine and I think she's a nice filly.”
