Zoffany filly Wilamina wins Listed on comeback

Wilamina (4f Zoffany-Tropical Lake, by Lomond) looks set for a productive season after winning a competitive renewal of the Listed Nottinghamshire Oaks at Nottingham on Wednesday.

Andrea Atzeni was aboard the Zoffany filly and held off some talented opponents to claim the 10-furlong contest by a length.

The winner, bred by John Boden and Willie Kane, is trained by Martyn Meade and races in the colours of his Snailwell Stud.

Freddie Meade, assistant to his father, was on hand to greet the winner. “We gave her a big holiday, brought her back and she has been thriving this spring,” said Meade jr. “This was the first step on the stepping stone this year.

“Andrea just tracked them round, they came to come to her but she just kept giving and giving. She’s so honest and a pleasure to do anything with. We thought we’d get this done today and then start to think of bigger and better things.”
